Full of Personality

Isaac has been a lot of fun these past few weeks, his personality is coming out in everything he does. He is completely all boy, but he is also showing a sweet affectionate side as well. We have been over to play at his buddy Tyler's a couple times these past few weeks and everytime we have been there he will walk up to Tyler and put his head on Tyler's head and give him a hug. It is the sweetest thing ever, but I never seem to have my camera! He is quite the cuddler with me, he walks up to me all the time and climbs in my lap and puts his head on my shoulder then sticks his butt out and tucks his arms under his body. Isaac has never been a kid that needs a blanket, a thumb, a binky or any comfort thing, but all of a sudden he has become very attached to one of his blankies. We try to keep it in the crib because we don't want him becoming dependent on needing it but sometimes it's so cute we can't help but take it out. When we check on him at night it's usually tucked up under him with his little bum in the air, or right beside him or last night over his face. It's never far from him. (Aunt Bee does this blanket look familiar?)

He is a sweet little boy but he definatly likes to show us how boy he is. This morning I went to the gym to workout and I came in the daycare to pick him up and he was standing on top of this dollhouse just looking out the window. The look on his face was priceless, it was almost as if he wanted to say "what, I'm big enough to do this." Everything in the house must now be investigated to see if he can climb on it or in it or over it. And he loves when daddy comes home, he imitates everything he does. It's amazing to us all the sounds that come out of him. He is such a joy to us and we are just enjoying this stage with him!

3rd picture: Isaac loves to play with vacuum's at friends houses, so I got him one, he loves pushing it back and forth and vacuuming when we vacuum

Good times with Grandma & Grandpa

This weekend grandma & grandpa Malsed came to stay with us. Isaac hasn't seen them since Easter so he has changed a lot since then. They had a great time getting so see all these changes this weekend. When they got here on Saturday he immediately had so start showing off and working his charm. He is walking all over now, and it's so funny to watch him walk because he just waddles across the room, he doesn't really bend his knees right now when he walks so it really exaggerates the waddle. We were hoping to get out on the bikes but the weather didn't cooperate for us it was way too cold. So we went to the Whiteoak Winery yesterday and Isaac got to crash a wedding. There was suppose to be an outdoor wedding at the winery but it was raining so they moved it inside, the banquet was in the room next to where you sample the wine. Isaac wanted to get down and walk but he headed straight for all the wine bottles and was not too happy when we wouldn't let him play with them, so the lady who owns the winery took him and walked around with him while we tasted the wine. She kept him pretty happy which we were thankful for. The weekend wasn't long enough...as always, but it was so good to be with family and to be able to spend mother's day with my mom.

Attack of the Spaghetti

Today was the first day that Isaac fed himself spaghetti, I think the picture is clear who won. He did eat some of it, but most of it went on his face and in his hair.

Isaac loves puppies lately. Today he was reading his animal sounds book (one of his favorites) and the first page says "what does the dog say" so I asked him because he's been making puppy sounds lately and right after I asked him what the puppy says he went "mmm, mmm" which is his puppy noise. Gary has been teaching him this the past couple of weeks. Then today when we were driving he saw a puppy that was on a walk with someone and he started going "mmm, mmm." It's just fun watching then learn and catch onto new things.

We have had these stuffed animals sitting on top of Isaac's bookshelf in his room since the day he was born, but all of a sudden this week he's completely fascinated by them. I went in to go get him from his nap the other day and he practically jumped out of my arms from so much excitement of suddenly discovering these stuffed animals. He kept pointing and saying "is it, is it" and so I got some of them down and at first I think he thought they were real because I could feel him start to shake and he started to act how he does when he is outside and see's a dog, but now all he wants to do is go into his room to play with them. Gary and Isaac named the brown dog in the picture "valentine" mainly because it has a heart around it's next but that is also Aunt Steph's dog. Now everytime he wakes up from his nap he points up their and says "is it, is it" until I get them down.

My son is a brut to his mommy. He thinks when I lay on the floor to play with him that it's fair game to wrestle me. I think I'm in trouble in a few years!

New Adventures, New Noises

These past couple of weeks Isaac has really been finding his voice and courage. It seems a new noise comes out of his mouth each day, but the funniest one we have heard so far is his 'machine gun'. Watch the video and you will see (make sure to pause the music player at the bottom of the page when you watch this).

Isaac has also become very mobile. Last week he started going up and down the stairs on his own, so he will go upstairs to his room and play for a little bit and then venture into our room for a little bit and then come back downstairs and play. He's gotten a lot faster going down the stairs since this video, now he does this backward breaststroke type of move, it's hilarious! Sometimes he gets a little overzealous, Gary said he wiped out on the stairs today. Within the last two days he has also become very mobile in his walking. Last week he couldn't even take 4 steps without falling down, but today and yesterday he is walking across the living room without falling. It's just so funny to see him walking, he seems so tiny it just doesn't seem like he should be doing that yet. It's just so fun to watch his little butt waddle across the room.

Oh, to be a kid again!

Real date for post 4/4/08
I love nights like tonight. Some nights Isaac can put up a fight when we get ready for bed, but tonight he was the biggest goof ball. He was so exhausted but he managed to maintain his sense of humor. I was just humming a song and then I would get closer and closer to his face until I was right up to his nose and then I would get far away and start it all over again and Isaac thought it was so funny. He didn’t just smile but he was in a full belly laugh, he was just cracking up. So we just had some fun before he went to bed and I kept doing that for awhile and at one point when I got really close to him he put his hands on my head and just held my face by his with our noses touching and he just laughingly sighed for a moment and then we did it all over again and it was still as funny as the first time that I did it. These are the moments when I really love being a mom, for five minutes today I was the funniest person to someone. To most people I probably looked like the biggest dork, but that’s what I love about these moments, he has no idea what it means to be a dork, no sense of what it means to judge someone, no sense at all to think this lady is just crazy, nothing but pure unconditional love and acceptance. I just got to thinking later, how great would it be if I could live my life like this, to find this kind of humor in the simple things in life. I wish I could protect him from the harshness and judgmental opinions he will someday face, if only the whole world could go through life accepting others the way young children accept others I think this world would be such a different place. For now I guess I can’t worry about that, I can only try to find that kind of humor and acceptance of others in my life and just cherish these moments because we all know that there will come a day when Isaac is 17 and doesn’t think his mom is so cool anymore.
