Hot Dog

I just love this kid! His character and personality just overwhelm me with joy, I truly can't imagine life without him!

A couple nights ago Gary had his mat out to strecth and Isaac wanted to be rolled up into it.

Daddy Time!

One of Isaac's favorite times of the day is when daddy comes home. Mommy is not as fun right now because I won't play rough with him like daddy does. If you are concerned for Isaac's safety as you watch this video just tell yourself what I do every time I watch them..."If he wasn't having fun or didn't like it he wouldn't come back for more." He is all boy and loves to play rough with daddy; Isaac is the one who usually initiates it!

Havin Fun with Friends!

A couple weeks ago Isaac and I went to Missouri Valley to stay with our good friends the Leusinks before we saw my family for RAGBRAI. We always have a blast with them and Ashley and Isaac always seem to be best buds the minute that we see each other. Isaac of course loves to play with Tyler, but they are more content to play around each other rather than with each other at this stage in their lives. Christine and I joke that one day Ash and Isaac will get married, maybe we are just wishful thinking but the fun that those two have together is really fun to watch. This is what the kids decided to do all on their own while Christine and I were busy doing other things, hope you enjoy the video!

Feeding Ducks!

A couple weeks ago it was raining all day so we couldn't go outside to play. Later that day Gary was outside grilling and he told me to bring Isaac to the window because there were two ducks walking by. These ducks made Isaacs day, they decided to come right up to our driveway and we made it out there just in time that Isaac could feed them. He was in heaven! Some of his pieces got pretty big so you will see the ducks walking off and then coming back; they would walk to the end of the driveway to soak their pieces of bread and then come back for some more!

Silly Sayings

Most things that come out of Isaac's mouth right now are pretty silly to Gary and I, but there have been a few things he has said lately that I think are especially funny.

When we are in the car, Gary is always putting on chapstick. Of course from where Isaac is sitting he can see daddy do this and then he thinks he needs some chapstick so he always says, "lips daddy!'. So Gary will turn around and put some on Isaac's lips then of course Isaac just licks it off and then he says "lips gone daddy".

A couple weeks ago Isaac started crying at 10:30 at night and I thought he just had to go potty so I went up there and I got in his room to go take him potty, and he kept saying over and over, "spidah in mah eye mommy". It took me awhile to piece it together that he was telling me he had a spider in his eye. I said you don't have a spider in your eye, took him potty and put him back to bed and he quickly settled back down. A couple days ago during a nap he did the same thing, started crying so I went up there and again he is rubbing his eye saying "spidah in mah eye mommy." I said again there are no spiders in your eye, I gave his eyes kisses and said all better and he went down for his nap. Yesterday Isaac and I were sitting on our bed and he started rubbing his eye as if it was itchy and he said, "mommy, spidah in my eye!". So I finally pieced it together yesterday that when his eye itches, somehow he has come to the conclusion that there is a spider in his eye. I have no idea how he came up with that! :)

Today we were getting ready to leave the gym and I was talking to someone so Isaac took a seat on this bench which happened to be right next to the coffee that the gym serves complimentary. As I was talking I saw Isaac take one of the coffee straws and a coffee cup and he got back on the bench to sit and I watched him put the straw in the cup and he sat there playing with that for a moment. Then he sat there with the cup on his lap and he looked up at me and then he very politely said to me with the most innocent face "I want some coffee please, mama." Some of the things he says lately just crack me up because I have no idea how he even knows the word coffee because we do not drink coffee, we don't even own a coffee pot, we don't go to coffee shops or even talk about coffee around here.

Here's a picture of Gary and Isaac going down the big slide at the pool. We got to go to the pool as a family last Sunday and Isaac had a blast going down the slide with daddy, over and over again!

Summerfest!

This weekend is Ankeny's big celebration, Summerfest. This morning we all headed out to the parade and we had a lot of fun, but it was very long...2 hours! Isaac was pretty excited and his favorites of the parade were all the different tractors.
Isaac with his friends Josiah, Kayla & Addy. Isaac was a little timid at the beginning of the parade.
Still a little timid, maybe all that endless instruction of telling Isaac to stay off the street is actually getting through to him?
He's got it down now, and he's heading over to the other kids territory.
About half way through the parade, he's getting a little 'paraded out'.
I do love my popcorn

How much candy does one 2 year old need, you ask? This picture doesn't even give an idea of how much he got, I think it would probably hit the scales at 5 pounds if not more. Certainly preggo mamma doesn't need that around the house!

Botanical Center

I have no idea where May & the first half of June went! Yes, I know I have done a terrible job at updating Isaac's blog. With teaching, traveling, everything to do with building the house, and on top of that raising and caring for a very busy 2 year old; there hasn't been much time left out the day to blog. I have a goal to do better this month and over the next few days I will be blogging about things we have done over the past few months. Oh, I haven't mentioned yet either that I have a little boy who doesn't like to look at the camera anymore so I haven't been taking as many pictures either. :)

Way back in May we took Isaac to the Botanical Center in Des Moines. The Botanical Center is mainly plants, but they do have the big goldfish and turtles. Isaac had a lot of fun just running around looking at the fish and the turtles but like most two year olds he could have cared less about the plants. Here are some pictures from that day.
Checking out the goldfish, he loved looking at the "fishies"!

He was pretty excited to see these turtles, we hung out in this spot for a long time!!!
