Botanical Center

I have no idea where May & the first half of June went! Yes, I know I have done a terrible job at updating Isaac's blog. With teaching, traveling, everything to do with building the house, and on top of that raising and caring for a very busy 2 year old; there hasn't been much time left out the day to blog. I have a goal to do better this month and over the next few days I will be blogging about things we have done over the past few months. Oh, I haven't mentioned yet either that I have a little boy who doesn't like to look at the camera anymore so I haven't been taking as many pictures either. :)

Way back in May we took Isaac to the Botanical Center in Des Moines. The Botanical Center is mainly plants, but they do have the big goldfish and turtles. Isaac had a lot of fun just running around looking at the fish and the turtles but like most two year olds he could have cared less about the plants. Here are some pictures from that day.
Checking out the goldfish, he loved looking at the "fishies"!

He was pretty excited to see these turtles, we hung out in this spot for a long time!!!

Horse Rides

This week our mom's group went to God's Glory Center which is a place that offers horse riding lessons and they teach the kids how to do all the chores for the horses as well, that's if they are old enough. I wasn't sure how Isaac was going to take to the horses, but I tried to get him all pumped up before we got there and then when we got in the barn he took one look up and saw the horse in it's pen and he froze in place and said "no, no, no, no". So I had to carry him for awhile and he was so tense I knew he wouldn't let me put him down.

Then we walked over to where all the kids were getting rides on the big horses and he said "I wanna ride" so we waited for our turn and he got right on that horse and never made a fuss about it. The only fuss he gave me was that when I put him on the horse he wanted to get going and so he rocked back and forth and made his noise he does when he wants to go, but then the horse finally started walking and he just looked like such a little man up on that horse. He did a good job holding on as well and never let go, I was so proud of him for how well he did. Then we had to get off and he did not like that, he would have liked to stay on that horse all day long. So looks like horse riding is in our future, which I would love!

This is how you play trucks!

We never taught Isaac how to do this, he just all of a sudden started this. This goes on for a long time when he plays trucks. When I taped this he had already been playing with his trucks and doing this for at least a half hour if not longer. Make sure you have your volume up so you can hear him.

It doesn't look like much

...but it will in a couple of months. This is the new piece of land Gary and I now own; I guess I should say the bank owns, but you know what I mean. We hope to start building mid July- first of August. Praise the Lord we will soon be out of this town house but it won't be before the baby arrives.

Easter Weekend

We went home to Sheldon on Easter weekend and stayed with Gaga & Papa and we also visited Grandpa Pennings in the Sioux Falls hospital. On Saturday we took Isaac to the Easter egg hunt at the park, there was a ton of kids and not as many eggs so we got maybe 2-3 eggs and I had to practically drag Isaac by his arm just to get those. It was pretty cut throat to get an egg that's why there are no pictures of it, from start to finish it lasted maybe a minute.

When we got home papa had some work to do in the back yard and Isaac being the big helper that he is decided he wanted to help papa rake. Then after Isaac's nap we went to the park with papa and papa found out I wasn't kidding when I said Isaac could swing for hours. Then on Sunday we spent Easter morning with gaga and papa and opened his Easter baskets, then in the afternoon we went to Orange City to celebrate with the Pennings side and we finished the party with an Easter egg hunt with his cousins. It was a weekend packed full of fun!

Bubbles, Bubbles & More

This is from a couple of weeks ago, but I have been meaning to post these for awhile. I let Isaac play in the sink one day after his nap and he loved playing with the bubbles so much that he spent an hour and a half transferring bubbles and water from one side of the sink to the other. Every time I asked him if he was done he stomped his feet, and shook his head no, and very admittedly told me 'no'.

Just coloring a picture, probably on a rainy day or while I'm making supper and we're waiting for daddy to get home

You have to be careful how you lay on the floor in this house because Isaac takes it as an open invitation to give him a 'ride'. He likes to just sit on daddy and say 'ride daddy'.

Baby doin

Today I had a Dr's appointment and according to Isaac it was to see how the "baby is doin". The baby as far as we know is doing great, and growing accordingly. We got to hear the babies heartbeat, took about 5 minutes to find, but I could eventually take a sigh of relief once I heard that sweet sound on the Doppler, it was in the 150s.

Isaac is coming down with a cold so I took him with me to my appointment, I wasn't going to but the midwives all love him and have told me to bring him with me to every appointment...we'll see! Come to find out once we were there Isaac loved that I took him as amazingly he remembered all his adventures from 4 weeks ago.

Last time I had my OB appointment it was a really long one almost an hour so Isaac was getting pretty bored, thankfully my favorite midwife Sea took Isaac out of the room and brought him into her office to play for awhile. Sea happens to have her office decorated with pictures of ocean wildlife and has "fishies" as Isaac calls them. Sea let him play with these fish last time and so today we weren't even in the office for more than a couple of minutes and he was already starring back at her office and pointing asking for these fishies. So when I got called back Isaac went tearing ahead of me and ran right into Sea's office asking for the fishies.

Much to Isaac's excitement Sea was in her office and so he got to play with these fish again. His memory just continues to astound me every day, it's crazy how he remembers something of that little detail (in my mind anyways)from 4 weeks ago! I guess now we have something to look forward to every time we go there. Although, next time he won't be coming with me since it will be a long morning of appointments including an ultrasound to determine the sex of the baby, so stay tuned!!!
